Michael Gallagher

Michael P. Gallagher serves as the President & Chief Executive Officer and a member of the Board of Directors for SantaFe HealthCare, Inc., a not-for-profit holding company headquartered in Gainesville, Florida.  Mike also serves as CEO and on the Board of Directors for each of SantaFe HealthCare’s Affiliates, comprised of the following community-based operating entities:

·         AvMed, Inc.

·         Haven Hospice of North Central Florida, Inc.

·         SantaFe Senior Living, Inc.

·         SantaFe Village  

Prior to 2007, Mike was the Executive Vice President & Chief Financial Officer for SantaFe HealthCare and its Affiliates. Mike also served as Executive Vice President & CFO for AvMed where he was responsible for Financial Reporting & Accounting, Treasury & Investments, Actuarial, Rating & Underwriting, Contract Compliance, Corporate Data Unit, Facilities Management & Leasin, Amisys Configuration, and Member Processing.  In addition, Mike served as the President and a member of Board of Directors of Haven Hospice and SantaFe Senior Living and each of its Retirement Communities.

Prior to 2001, Mike was the Senior Vice President - Finance, Treasurer & CFO for Blue Cross of Northeastern Pennsylvania having Strategic, Financial and Administrative responsibilities for this Blue Cross/Managed Care Plan. Mike was accountable for the Finance Division, Taxes, Payroll, Treasury & Investments, and Actuarial, Rating & Underwriting. He was also responsible for Strategic Business Planning, Provider Contracting & Auditing, Human Resources, Facilities, Administrative Services, Internal Audit, Fraud & Abuse, and Corporate Compliance.

Before joining Blue Cross in 1993, Mike was a Partner with Coopers & Lybrand in Columbus, Ohio. He was an Insurance Specialist Partner serving Blue Cross/Blue Shield plans, HMOs, life & health, property & casualty, medical professional liability and workers’ compensation insurers.  He also had significant diversified industry experience serving clients in the energy, manufacturing, and wholesale/distribution sectors, as well as governmental entities, nonprofit organizations and employee benefit plans.

Mike earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration with Accounting Honors from the University of Dayton, Dayton, Ohio and is a licensed Certified Public Accountant in Ohio. He is a member of the Florida Council of 100 and Florida Chamber of Commerce and serves on the Board of Directors of the America’s Health Insurance Plans (AHIP), Florida Chamber of Commerce, Florida Chamber Foundation, Greater Gainesville Area Chamber of Commerce, and serves as Chairman of United Way of North Central Florida.  He is also active in various community and non-profit organizations and a member of several health insurance, hospice and senior living industry and professional organizations.
